The team behind the website:

Dr. Bettina Greiner, historian, works for the Hamburg Institute for Social Research (HIS) and is coordinator of the Berlin Colloquia on Contemporary History and the Berlin Center for Cold War Studies. She has written on political repression and (camp) imprisonment in the Twentieth Century.


Dr. Claudia Kemper, historian, is a research fellow at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research (HIS) and working-group member of the Berlin Center for Cold War Studies since 2014. Her main interests focus on expert groups, organizations and epistemic history as well as on historical peace- and conflict studies.


Sophie Lange, M.A., historian, is a research assistant and member of the Berlin Center for Cold War Studies since the end of 2015. She is doing her PhD at the Humboldt University of Berlin in which she explores cross-border environmental problems between the two Germanys and their social and political handling within the context of the Cold War.


PD Dr. Christian Th. Müller, historian, senior lecturer at Potsdam University and member of the Berlin Center for Cold War Studies since 2016. His previous research was focused on the relationship between military and society in divided Germany and the phenomena of military occupation and troop deployment during the Cold War.


Dr. Klaas Voß, historian, is a lecturer in Safety and Security Managment Studies at The Hague University and has been associated with the Berlin Center for Cold War Studies since 2014. He wrote his PhD thesis on mercenaries in covert operations in Cold War proxy interventions. His research interests in the field of Cold War Studies encompass the history of intelligence services, nuclear strategy, low-intesity conflicts, and crisis management.
