Description: 

Based on the state Law of Saxony-Anhalt dating from 2015 the state commissioner of Saxony-Anhalt is responsible for dealing with the past of the dictatorship of Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in Saxony-Anhalt. The commissioner and his office have a mandate to advise people who had been persecuted for political reasons in the period of the soviet occupation from 1945 to 1949 and in the period of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) from 1949 to 1990. The regional commissioner and its office offer support in cases of rehabilitation and public information about the dictatorship in the Soviet occupation zone and GDR.
