Description:

The Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb) is a public institution that promotes democratic awareness and political participation. Our various activities and publications cover a broad range of current and historical issues in the field of politics, economy, and society. In our daily work we provide timely and sound information and debates via our website and social media services. Our mission is to motivate people and enable them to give critical thought to political and social issues and play an active part in political and social life. Considering Germany's experience with various forms of dictatorship throughout its history, the Federal Republic of Germany bears a unique responsibility for firmly anchoring values such as democracy, pluralism, and tolerance in people's minds.

Cold War Interests:

The bpb offers various publications - audiovisual and/or print - on German and international contemporary history: Dossiers on the bpb website contain more than 220 articles describing and illustrating aspects of the Cold War, books and periodicals on the topicof the Cold War. The bpb also organizes and sponsors events dealing on the topic.
